Pet Show

Department Guidelines:
- There is NO pre-registration for this event.
- The Pet Show will be held Friday evening, on the grounds of the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture. A special show ring will be in place for the show.
- The show will begin at 6:30pm
- This is a NON-Premium show so there are no monetary premiums associated with this show. Only Rosettes will be awarded the winners in each of the categories.
- The judge reserves the right to add or delete categories based on the entries present at the show.

Department Guidelines:
- Animals shown in the Poultry Department must be registered in the name of the exhibitor.
- Exhibitors must follow these and all guidelines in General and Outdoor Rules and Regulations.
- All poultry exhibitors must comply with regulations set forth by the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Specific requirements for poultry are outlined in the following document. All birds must be identified. Premises number is required on the entry form and must be identified upon arrival to the Fair. Self-certification should be made available upon arrival.
- Poultry flock must be registered with the National Animal Identification system. The Premises Identification number is required.
- All poultry exhibitors must complete Self Certification of Poultry health form prior to loading birds and shall present it upon request to designated fair agent.
- All poultry, regardless of age, must be tested as required by the MD Department of Agriculture. See health regulations for livestock exhibited in Maryland. All exhibitors must show proof of negative testing at the time the birds are entered.
- Exhibitors may enter one (1) bird per class unless noted in class guidelines. Each bird should be entered separately on the entry form. The maximum number of entries per department is seven (7).
- Exhibitors are NOT allowed to substitute birds on the day of the show, they must show what was preregistered.
- Minimum age for entry is five months.
- Birds in Purebred and Crossbred Classes will be judged according to breed characteristics, e.g. feathers, coloring, combs, etc.
- Exhibitors must provide cages for their birds for the show. Each bird entered must be stored in a separate cage.
- Poultry are to be kept in their pens at all times except during judging, for the safety of the General Public, exhibitors, and all birds.

Rabbit and Cavy

Department Guidelines:
- Animals shown in Rabbit and Cavy Department must be registered in the name of the exhibitor.
- Exhibitors must follow these and all guidelines in General Regulations.
- All animals must have a readable tattoo in their left ear at time of entry.
- We request that all entrants provide their own carriers, food containers, food, and water containers. Department chairman have the right to deny premiums to those who fail to comply.
- There will be no changes or substitutions unless in the same breed, class, sex, age, and variety. Only ONE change per exhibitor.
- Rabbits and Cavies will be judged Saturday morning beginning at 10:00am. Everyone is invited to watch.
- Any animal showing signs of illness or disease will be refused entry. The decision of the department chairman will be final.
- Pet Class will be judged according to the condition of fur, general health, overall balance, and appearance. Hutch stains, broken teeth, and animal’s ability to pose may be considered to break ties.
- Do NOT fill in coop column on the entry blank.
- Rabbits and Cavies will be awarded class ribbons 1st through 6th places. Premiums of $4.00 per entry up to 7 entries per exhibitor. More entries may be shown, but no premiums will be paid.

- No Sheep will be permitted in the ring unless properly cleaned and blocked.
- Substitutions: Exhibitors are permitted to make one substitution, one animal for another of the same breed in the same class meeting all other show criteria.

- Exhibitors must follow these and all guidelines in General Regulations.
- Maximum of three (3) market hogs can be shown per exhibitor and not more than two (2) of the three (3) can be shown in the same weight class. Market hogs will be divided into extra light, light, medium, and heavy weight classes.
- Exhibitors will be limited to no more than two entries per class in the breed classes.
- Gilts exhibited in a market class may not be exhibited in a breed class.
